Our “Ordinary Aussies” Campaign

Our mission is to show what ordinary Aussies can achieve – in our case, the proving ground is the ocean. Our first big goal – after doing so well in the 2023 SA Women’s Keelboat Regatta – was this year’s Sydney-Hobart, which has somehow morphed into a crazy, year-long adventure, from SA’s west coast all the way to Far North Queensland.

For now, the focus is on training and preparation for the sail north to Sydney in early December, for the iconic race. From Sydney Harbour, we race south for three days and nights to the finish line in Hobart, then around Tassie and home. And that’s just the start.

In all, our twelve event racing adventure will take us 15,000 kilometres (9,000+ nautical miles), from Port Lincoln on South Australia’s far west coast, to Tasmania and Far North Queensland, and including major Australian racing events such as the prestigious 2023 Rolex Sydney to Hobart yacht race, the Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta, and Hamilton Island Race Week, only to bolt back from FNQ’s Magnetic Island for SAWKR 2024.

We did it!

Clockwork sailing completes the 2023 Rolex Sydney to Hobart.

12+ events

From the Sydney to Hobart, to Hamiliton & Magnetic Islands race weeks, the Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta, and an increasing number of races along the way, we’ve signed up for 12 major races and regattas (so far) in 2023-24!

15,000 km

We are a South Australia-based crew, aiming - with the help of supporters and friends - to complete 15,000km in a single year of Australian coastal racing and sailing. No easy feat.

Raising awareness

We’re using Clockwork’s adventure to extend the reach of Orange Sky’s mobile laundry & shower services. With your support, we’re working to improve the quality of life for homeless Australians across the country.

The South Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta

The 2023 South Australian Women's Keelboat Regatta, which promotes women's sailing excellence, featured twenty-nine boats and 160+ competitors taking part in glorious conditions. Among serious competition, the Clockwork women’s crew took second place in the DIV 1 PHS.

Help us “fill our sails” to support Orange Sky, so that they can reach more homeless Aussies with their essential laundry services.

Orange Sky - a truly inspirational organisation started in a Brisbane garage by two young guys only nine years ago - now provides essential showers and laundry services to people experiencing homelessness, from one end of Australia to the other.

More than that, these two “ordinary Aussies” have inspired 2,000+ volunteers to help create a sense of community and connection amongst folks who often get left out. It’s added up to almost two million kilograms of free laundry - and an equally important 330,000 hours of non-judgemental conversations - in 36 service locations so far!

This journey by Clockwork and its sailing crew - 15,000 km voyage around Australia’s coast - is another extraordinary initiative by ordinary Aussies, again showing what’s possible with a dream, determination and the power of human connections.

As we clock up the kilometers (ok, nautical miles) over these next twelve months, Clockwork’s crew intends to show exactly how far committed individuals are willing to go to make a difference. And as we do so, we’ll be asking you and other Australians to support us for donations, for every kilometre we sail.

The message is clear: Even the smallest contributions, when aligned towards a goal, can collectively have a massive impact.

Clockwork Sailing invites all our friends, supporters and major sponsors to help us combine our journey with the efforts of Orange Sky.

Together we can help Australians without homes to connect with others, to feel brighter about their lives, and to gain confidence through our support, so that they may take on the next adventure in their own lives.
