About Clockwork

Clockwork, with her large and distinctive orange steering wheel, is a Sydney 38 racing yacht - one of Australia’s most respected international yachting designs.

Purchased a year ago, she is sleek enough to race very competitively in both challenging offshore racing and at our local clubs’ twilight and weekend regattas, yet she’s comfortable for social outings with supporters and friends.

This year Clockwork is the only South Australian-based boat registered to race in the prestigious 2023 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, and we’ll be competing in a fleet of seven Sydney 38s.

Meet our Fearless Leaders

  • SKIPPER / OWNER

Having sailed competitively most of his life, Andrew knows yachting backwards, from helming, to tactics and trimming, navigation, engines and maintenance. He also has a rare talent for passing on that knowledge; he willingly provides guidance and coaching to our diverse crew, sharing his wealth of knowledge with all of us.

Andrew is responsible for boat readiness, working tirelessly to ensure that every single piece of equipment is fit for purpose, and every possible racing scenario is considered, as the big project gets underway.

Mary Ann came to keelboat sailing a little later in life, after more than twenty years riding the winds as a recreational sailboarder. Mary Ann’s thirst for life and love of wind helped her to quickly establish herself as a force to be reckoned with in in her local sailing community; winning crew member of the year at the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia.

Meet another bunch of ordinary Aussies, the amazing Orange Sky crew who created the world’s first free mobile laundry service.

When we ask friends and businesses to back our voyage, they’re helping Aussies doing it tough, all around the country.

“From the cities to many remote communities, Orange Sky is helping people who often get dismissed by the world at large. If we can capture people’s attention for them, as we sail around Australia’s coastline, that’s adding a whole other level of value to what we achieve personally.”
